Clocked out

Clocked Out Duo perform music for prepared piano and percussion. Formed in Melbourne in 1999, they have performed across the world in major festivals (London Jazz Festival, Melbourne International Arts Festival, Big Sur Experimental Arts Festival for example), clubs and outback landscapes. Drawing influences from a variety of musics, they teeter between experimental music, contemporary classical, jazz and improvisation.

Clocked Out Duo have released 3 recordings – Every Night the Same Dream, Water Pushes Sand and Foreign Objects. In 2012 the Duo collaborated with Topology on a new album From Small Things Grow and premiered a new concert length work Time Crystals (premiered at PICA in Perth, December 2012).

Clocked Out Duo is the laboratory for the bigger organization Clocked Out which produces some of Australia's most innovative contemporary music and interarts projects. Through their varied collaborations they have sought to bring together musicians, performers, artists and audiences from diverse backgrounds. By following their creativity to unexpected places, their work has explored the boundaries between musical styles and artistic disciplines.

Clocked Out are ensemble-in-residence at Queensland Conservatorium, Griffith University and until 2013 received annual funding from Arts Queensland. They produce an annual series of concerts and interarts events in Brisbane, and they tour their projects nationally and internationally.

In 2012 they presented the major Australian Festival of John Cage - The Cage in US, produced The Grevilleas of Myall Park with The Australian Voices, produced and toured Prestidigitation with Adam Simmons, presented John Luther Adams Strange and Sacred Noise, and toured Japan and the USA.
